Filmmakers Charles Hage and Ramon Sanchez used the deep and desolate canyons of Jemez Springs, New Mexico to give the film its unique and authentic look. The project was conceived, scripted and produced in less than three months, making Dark Games a landmark independent production.

Despite its modest budget, the screenplay quickly attracted such familiar talent as Martin Kove, Jeff Conaway and Danny Trejo. The film also features Junior Karate champion of the world Boo Boo Stewart (American Cowslip, Disney's T-Squad) in his first starring role.

The strong supporting cast includes reliable character actor Brian Thompson, Joey Sylvester, James Evans, Jayne Entwistle, Maegan Stewart, a cameo appearance by Vikki Lizzi (TV's Celebrity Rehab) and Introducing Heather Tocquigny in a truly memorable performance as a young woman terrorized during a home invasion.
